Shea's Home

We didn't post last night as we had no internet connection. All of the posts have been very encouraging as we have had a tough time making Shea comfortable. As soon as we think we have the perfect med mix, she surprises us with intense pain.

Today Shea has pretty much slept all day and is now in bed for the night. It has been three days since the surgery, and her spirits are way down. She sat at the table and drank her broth and yogurt and didn't speak. When we asked her things she didn't answer. Then after awhile in Shea's sweet style she apologized for not being "up" for us, and we assured her that this is her time to heal and be quiet if she needs to be. Of course, being on a narcotic alters your mind, and she has had a few hallucinations which bother her since it takes her back to the drug withdrawal horror in Macon. We're praying that the Meperidine can be reduced soon.

Thank you for praying for healing, strength . . . and maybe joy in the morning too.

Love,

Steve and Susan

... my heart goes out to you all. May you KNOW God's promise in Ps 68:19 (from the Amplified version) -- "Blessed be the Lord, Who bears our burdens and carries us day by day, even the God Who is our salvation! Selah (pause, and calmly think of that!)" Assure Shea she may be honest and true to where/how she is right now ... none of us can even begin to imagine the depth of what she is and has experienced. There is only One: Jesus is with her in every thought, feeling, pain, sorrow, anger, joy, whatever. There is nowhere she can be that he is not, and that is awesome good news. I pray fresh strength and grace for this moment. Love, a friend in Darien :)

It's hard to know what to say. So many "words of encouragement" can sound trite, but we ARE praying for you. When He graciously ministers peace and encouragement, it is always exactly what we need. Amen?

With love and prayers,
Lisa for the Smith family

Dear Shea,

Sorry you're going through a tough time right now. Healing can be a slow process, but we hope each day gets a little better and a little easier as far as the pain is concerned. We're certainly praying that the drugs will be effective and that you can get off them soon.

I'm going to Austin this evening to spend the weekend with Heather. I'm sure we'll be spending time together in prayer for you.

We love you!

I think of you often, and hope you are well enough soon to come back to Colorado. I would love for you to meet my daughter and grandson.

Good morning Shea. We've been away for a few weeks but we've been thinking of you and praying for your recovery. We were thankful that you were able to be at peace as you prepared for the surgery and now we pray that you will feel the support and prayers of all around you as you recover. When you're in pain you probably can't think of anything except how to get rid of the pain but when the pain subsides and you're able to focus on other things, remember that we love you, we're praying for you and we're enormously proud of you.

Love,

Uncle John

Dear Shea and family,

May that peace that Shea spoke of, that surpasses all understanding, cover each of you.
That song, He is able, more than able, to handle anything that concerns me today, has just been singing in my spirit.
God is able!!! May each of you hold on to His gracious, loving, powerful healing hands.
I just so lift you up and lift Shea up in prayer for healing, rest, comfort; just all she needs right now. I lift each of you up for the rest and strength you need.
She is just amazing in her love and trust of God!!! Oh, may He just comfort His precious Shea right now!!
Our Redeemer is faithful and true and every thing He has said he will do.
May His faithfulness and ableness hold you up as you wait and trust in Him,

Denise
