10:45 PM Report: Surgery is Going Well

It's 10:45 PM. We just heard about a half hour ago that the surgery is going well.

The surgeon, Dr. Carey, expected to have some difficulty with the mandible, the lower jaw, and this has been a challenge but apparently no more than expected.

So keep Dr. Carey in your prayers, that his hands and eyes may be steady and his mind clear.

We expect to hear another report around 11 PM and we'll post that as soon as we get it.

Love to you all.

Shea,

It is 9:oo Phoenix time. Your voice is no doubt ringing through the operating room right now. We look foward to the day when the world will hear our nightingale live and in person. The Preston Family (or should I say, zoo) is thinking of you now as you are continuing to fight. What a courageous spirit you have. Continue to find rest in our Father, and continue the journey through recovery.

Steve & Susan,

What a week you have had. I bet it feels like a year at times. I still can see in my mind the light that exuded from you Susan. I so enjoyed the times we were able to talk and laugh. I think I remember one talk in the orch room that made me lose my breath in laughter. We were talking about health classes, and something about Shea being called over the loudspeaker or found by someone on a golf cart, or something, because you did not want her to go to the "talk" at school. Shea was rolling her eyes, and we were all so tickled. I say this just to remind you of laughter that I am sure has been hard to come by. It is a great tool in hard emotional times. I pray that God will bring something to you today that just causes you to get silly in laughter. We miss you and continue to hold you up in prayer.

Steve and Susan,
We're praying for Shea and Dr. Carey and his team right now!!! We just came from a Carol Sing at SBC. So many people asked about Shea~people we were just meeting! Then we talked to little Galilee Gregg on the phone. Her first question was how is Shea surgery going? You guys are covered in prayer. May the CD inspire and encourage the surgeons as they hear Shea worship our Lord. We know her heart is praising Him even now!! We love you, Shea star!!! Huge hugs across the miles,
Cate and Sean
