A Few More Notes

Dear Friends and Family,

When I visited this afternoon, Shea was getting her hair washed. Nurse Laura was painstakingly brushing out her hair strand by strand, getting out every snarl. Shea winced every now and then when Laura was working with a particularly stubborn tangle. I told Laura and Susan that Shea was probably thinking that she could teach us all a thing or two about taking care of her hair!

The swelling in Shea's right hand is down. Susan said today, "Her hands finally look like Shea's hands." There was some concern that the swelling could indicate a blood clot, so it was good to see this improvement.

We have watched her temperature come down the last couple of days. It hovered between 38 and 39C today.

This is my last report. We leave tomorrow morning to go back to Knoxville. Jeanne will be back tomorrow afternoon. It is difficult to leave the Hickoks, but it is good to have seen for ourselves our precious Shea and to have seen firsthand the wonderful care she is getting. It has been a privilege to report on what God is doing here in Macon.

Though Shea has not uttered a word to us while we have been here, she has ministered to us. We have seen God's hand at work and witnessed His healing in her body. Even as she sleeps, God is using her music to encourage hearts. Can't you just see her eyes when we tell her one day soon all that God has been doing?

Love and gratitude to you all,

Kathy Falk

Bless you, and thank you for your notes, Kathy. Especially since Shea works with hair, hair washing is something I had actually wondered about (my little sister had to be in traction for 6 weeks with a broken leg, and her hair got awfully greasy - that dry, powdery "shampoo" just didn't work). The day-to-day glimpses from you help us all to know how to pray specifically. Safe travels. In Christ, Sharon Moore

God Bless you all. Constant emotions and seeing your beloved Shea in this condition has to be tough. But, God is always there by your side helping you take that one last push to make it through the day. Just continue to put all of your faith in God.
"Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see."
-Hebrews 11:1

"I've commanded you to be strong and brave. Don't ever be afraid or discouraged! I am the Lord your God, and I will be there to help you wherever you go."
-Joshua 1:9

And finally. God Bless you Shae. Stay strong through the Lord.

Much Love

Shea,

We log in and pray for your continued recovery everyday. You don't know us well, but we are your former neighbors in Scottsdale. We are the family with four little girls. The girls watched you sing at one of the Halloween parties we had for our neighborhood and they were so impressed! Every time we drive by your old house we think of you and say another prayer. We also pray for the strength of your family. Your mom is such a warm and giving person. She really helped in getting some of our neighbors together and meeting each other and I'm sure she is using her talents to inspire hospital staff to work even harder. So please know you have four little girls praying every day...and of course their mom and dad too. Take care! Joy, Hector, Lainey, Lauren, Alexis and Elise Escarcega

I just wanted to leave a note to remind people to please pray for the Jones family as well (Shea's boyfriends family). As it gets closer to Christmas, I know it is getting harder for them to cope with this tragic lose and having to go through this without Michael. Although Shea and the Hickoks are a main priority, I dont want the Jones to be forgotten about in this time of need. Thank you

Dear Shea:
Well I thought of your whole family last night so often--especially you and Luke. Our family along with Cameo's boyfriend, Adam (another guitar nut) went to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert at Glendale Arena. Three hours of incredible talent--I'd never experienced anything like it, and I thought how much you would love it. So I said to myself--"Karine--little note--next year find out if they will be playing anywhere in Georgia and if they are buy tickets for Luke and Shea." My mom went too--and I thought--wow--mom 70 something, and me nearly 50, and I'm at my first "rock" concert--who would of thunk (yes I know it's not a real word). I praise God too, that the birth of Jesus Christ, as Saviour of the World, was lifted unabashadly up in voice, which was a blessing even in a secular event. Even the "ROCKerS" will cry out that Jesus is LORD. And HE IS Lord of you too Shea.

So happy to about your hair--it's a girl thing! I discovered Room Booster in Texas (the big hair state) and now I'm poofier:)

Bye for now sleepy head! Take us up on the concert next year! You can always fly out here and attend :) :)
Love, Karine for the Beard
