Goodbye Macon… hello Atlanta

Today Shea was released from ICU!

The PICU Macon hospital staff worked very hard to move her forward so that she can be home as soon as possible. The move from Macon to Atlanta was filled with much emotion. Shea and her family have experienced such deep friendship with those who have been with them in times of darkness.

Macon, thank you for all the TLC that you gave our sweet Shea and her family. We will remember your little town forever.

Our prayer request for Shea is that there will be a smooth transition as she starts rehab at Shepherds. The days are going to become more mentally and physically demanding, so please pray for endurance and strength. This will be Shea’s workplace, so we ask that people wait to visit her. Thank you so much for your prayers regarding pain management… this is an ongoing challenge for the medical staff as they assess her daily.

Shea has requested that you continue to pray about her left eye and that her full sight be restored. We received a second opinion about her eye, the doctor could see blood in the eye and is hopeful that the body will absorb it over time. At this point it is a matter of patience before we have it evaluated again.

Atlanta… our story continues.

We are so glad to be back... we await the blessings that are before us. Thanks to all of you who have been there to pray and walk this journey with us.

We wrap our arms around you.

Joy

Hickoks,

What a relief it must be to finally go home after an ordeal that must feel like a lifetime, so far. Our love and prayers have been transferred from ICU to Shepherd's right along with Shea, and we hope she continues feeling all our support there.

All our love,

Hayes (we love you, Joy Pipp!)

Hickoks (and Aunt Joy, Aunt Jeanne, Uncle Michael, Grandpa Anderson, etc.)

We thank you all for sharing your very personal stories with us over these weeks. It has been an honor to share with you in all the ups and downs.

Our sweet Father has shown Himself faithful over and over again through these weeks. We have been reminded again that all things do indeed work together for good for those that love Him.

Shea: Congratulations! I know you're a long way from the "finish line," but you've already run a great race! Keep up the good work, and we'll continue to pray for your eye, for your upcoming therapy, and for the doctors as they make decisions about your pain management. We love you!!

Steve & Susan: From the very beginning, when you, through your tears, offered Shea back to the Father (walking the path that Abraham walked with Isaac)... Your family has shown just how much you love the Lord and desire to serve & please Him. My prayer is that my own heart would be that focussed on Jesus if I should ever be faced with such a trial.

Macon -- we, too, are thanksful for the love and care you have shown to our friends! If we ever make it from Arizona to Georgia, we'll be sure to stop in and say "Hi!"

Amen, this is so exciting. The next part of your journey will be difficult I'm sure, but take great faith in the knowledge that Jesus has carried you this far. He will continue to restore you ever so gently (although it may not seem gentle!). The prayers will keep going up on behalf of all the Hickoks. I just can't thank each of you enough for the witness to my heart you have made. Remember to be still and know that he is God. Shea, it doesn't sound like you need to be reminded to work hard! I think you are a warrior, spritually and physically. Keep going.
Lots of love and prayers-

Good morning Shea and family: I stopped in and said hi a couple of mornings ago. One of the first things I do each morning is to check the blog and read your update and just about all of you. Praise the Lord you are back in Atlanta. All of us are praying for you. My girls Becky, Heather, and Biz, and our son Heath.
If the Lord would lead you, oneday this would be a truly inspiring book.
Thank you for sharing yourselves with all of us. It's like you have become family.
Susan I have three daughters 33,29,25.... I have always taught them that the Lord isn't nearly as concerned with their outward appearance as he is with their inward beauty and I can see Shea has a beauty from with in that must just make Jesus smile.
Shea Lord bless you honey. I pray for you each morning as I start my day, and many times you are the last thing on my mind when I close my eyes.
God Speed to you all. In the Love of Jesus Christ. Debbie Miller (linda evans friend)

WOOOHOOOO....HOME SWEET HOME !!!!What a wonderful Christmas present! THANK YOU LORD, for all of the answered prayers!!!(well, at least some of you can sleep in your own beds now...LOL)

Shea- I know that your rehabilitation is going to be hard work, but you can do it , girlie! Those Physical Terrorists...I mean Therapists, know what they are doing. The work you will have to do may not be fun, but before you know it, you'll be back at church with us, singing away. All of the PT's that I have had for my knees have been tough, but very caring. They are very special people who have really big hearts....even though it may not seem like it while you are doing the exercises and tasks. ;)

Still praying for your face pain and your eye. We will also be praying for a special strength and stamina while you go through PT.

Still keeping that Hot chocolate warm for you...waiting for our concert!

Just a quick note to let you know Dave Ball's family in Oregon has been praying for you and will keep you lifted up. (Dave's Mom and sisters read your blog daily ... and his Mom really wanted you to know she's praying, but didn't know how to post it herself.)

Blessings on top of blessings for all of you.

Susan and Steve,
We remember bringing our newborn baby daughter home 2 days before Christmas after 2 months in NICU.(2 years ago today). So, we celebrate this step forward with you, knowing the feeling of being back home after such an ordeal. We also feel for you because we know how hard it is to say goodbye to your Macon hospital 'family' that has become such a huge part of your lives. Such a bittersweet time. We are so thankful to have gotten to know your family through the blog. Our faith has grown by hearing Shea's story. It is our privilege to be able to continue to pray for you and Shea and your boys during the rest of her recovery. Thank you so much for opening up your hearts so selflessly and allowing us and so many others to witness God's glory in such a powerful way, day after day. God bless your family and welcome home. Merry Christmas!

My Soul doth magnify thee
And my spirit doth rejoice
In God my Savior.

God is so good and so amazing. I am
hardly able to find words strong enough to express the wonder of what He has done. To think that Shea is GOING HOME, and that she can talk and is healing... are all amazing to me. We are so happy for you.

Every time I read the blog, the boys ask, "so how is she doing?" "This is Shea, right?" "Can she talk now?"
Even though they have never seen you they are still interested in what is happening, and they pray for you. For me, I keep remembering the sweet little curly-haired girl that acted as flower girl in our wedding, and I am so thankful that God spared you for your Mom and Dad and for all of us.

We will continue praying for you Shea, and look forward to all the good things God will do in and through you.

Love, Clay and Charity Conner &
