Spring Break

Hey Blogger Family!

This is Amy Heart, Shea’s friend from Arizona! I have had the amazing opportunity to spend my first Spring Break of college with my beautiful friend Shea Stahrr. People keep asking me how she is different from before the accident, and truly I believe that aside from the cosmetic, she is the same beautiful person she has always been. We have been busy running all around town; shopping, getting coffee, getting our nails done, getting spray tanned, and seeing old friends - you know, the important things in life!

Last Friday we went to the salon where Shea worked before the accident and will eventually go back to once she is released to work. She was received by a group of giddy salon workers who were eager to have her back. Shea almost immediately tried to get back to work and put dishes back in their places. It was great to see the looks on peoples faces as they realized that she really is going to be okay, and God is good.

As many of you know Shea also went back to her church, The Bridge for the first time since the accident. She was asked to come up on stage to be interviewed and give a testimony to all the amazing things that God is doing in her life. Jason Garcia, one of the pastors at The Bridge started off the interview by giving a recap of the night of the accident. He shared pictures of Shea in the hospital, in rehab, and with many of the people who Shea interacted with. This was truly a tribute to how far she has come. Shea began by thanking the congregation for their continuous prayer throughout this whole experience. She shared how Proverbs 3:5-6 has been a key verse for her throughout her recovery. In times where she did not know what to do she had to lean on God and trust in Him to direct her paths.

Jason then asked how people can pray for her. We were hoping that Shea could get into surgery next month but they are now saying that she can’t get in until July 17th. Shea is on a waiting list to get the next available surgery date. For us, it seems like the sooner the better, but we know that God’s time is what we are waiting for. Please continue to pray for God’s timing with Shea’s surgeries. Also, pray for wisdom for the doctors who will be working on her.

I feel so privileged that God has allowed me to be a part of Shea’s recovery and be here for my best friend. I have met so many wonderful people who have been praying for her. I got to meet the Jones family and hear so many wonderful stories about Mike. It is great to be able to remember what a wonderful man of God that Mike was through the stories of everyone that loved him. This journey has been a roller coaster ride! Although times are good right now, there are hard times ahead. Please continue to pray.

With Love!
Amy (Heart) Thomas

Hey Shea! Just thought I would check your blog while I was on the computer doing a report, and there was a blog up! Thanks, Amy, for the update, it was great meeting you Sunday and also seeing you again Monday.

Shea, girl, it was amazing seeing you on Sunday. Though I was sad that I didn't get to hug you Sunday, I was stoked to see you Monday! We drove up and mom said "Amy, Shea's friend is in there, Shea must be there too." Ohh, I got quite excited to get to hug you. Seeing your beautiful face through the window, I was dying to give you a hug! You're beautiful, girl! I was kinda bummed I didn't get to talk to you very much. But, I'm glad my brother got to talk to you. And I didn't mind listening to the conversation.

I just can't get over seeing you Sunday and Monday. I was really happy.

I love you girl! I might see you tomorrow, I'm coming over for guitar with Luke. Hopefully I won't be out of it. I'm really tired.

Love you!

Dear Shea,
It was great seeing your gorgeous self at Mike's memorial at KSU a few weeks ago. There are no words to describe the feeling I felt when I hugged you that night. Seeing you and hugging you enabled me to witness first hand God's amazing work. That my dear, was the greatest experience I have ever had. Thank you so much Shea!

If you ever need anything at all, please don't hesitate to ask!

Much love,
Meagan Fulford

Good Morning Shea! I'm so excited for you to have one of your dearest long time friends hanging out with you! I bet it's been something your little soul needed huh?! The laughter, the history, the easy-ness (is that a word) of a great friend. So, I knew you'd be sharing a bit on Sunday, but I had no idea I'd actually get to give you a hug - I guess we just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I walked away wishing I'd given you two or three more hugs even though it was a brief encounter! By the way, you are gorgeous AND your spirit is beautful!! Based on the blog it sounds like you've been getting out a lot more. I'm wondering how that's been for you. I pray for your times with Jesus. I've also wondered if you're reading anything. I read a book recently called 90 Minutes in Heaven. It's about a man's recovery after an accident. I gave it to Jenny to read and check out to see if it was something you'd like. I don't even know if you like to read - :) And I'm sure tons of people are giving you various things to read. Even so, I thought of you and your family. Maybe ask her about it. Well little Emory just woke up and is making a lot of noise, her way of saying "Mom, where are you, I'm ready to get out of bed!!"

Lots of love,

Lynn Ingram

Hi there Shae! I'm still amazed that I saw you today at the coffee house! I thought I was walking out to talk to your Mom, and it was you! I presume the driver was Amy? My eyesight must be shot, because I didn't realize it was you until I was right at the car (Susan, read this as saying that you look as young as Amy....)

In spite of being so surprised, I have just been praising the Lord all afternoon for the unexpected blessing of seeing Shae "out and about" enjoying the day! God is so good!

That is just so kewl, Shae! You are doing great and I am just amazed to be able to get an occaisional glimpse into the miracles He is doing in your life.

Amy, thanks for writing the update. Next time I'll remember to introduce myself (and I'll remember to give Shae a big hug, too).

We sure do love the Hickok's at my house, and I can't wait to worship with them on Sunday.

Emily and I pray for Shae every nigt at bedtime, and she is hoping SHae will make another church visit soon so she can see and rejoice at God's marvelous grace.

Have a great weekend/spring break. Hope to see you both at Church, (or Firenza?) very soon.

To God be the glory for the great things He has done thru you, Shae. Thanks for being such strength and inspiration to me and my family.

Hi, Amy!

Thanks for being a part of this blog. What an amazing group of people, don't you think?

I'm so happy you could spend time with Shea. What a spectactular memory this will be, even decades from now.

As this time comes to an end. we rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep. But to have had this time ... what a blessing!

Our prayers are with you both ... for safe travel for Amy on her way back to college, and for Shea who must say goodbye.

God's blessing on both of you girls this week!

With prayers and rejoicing,

Carolyn

It was so good to read about your visit with Shea, Amy. I'm just rejoicing that you were able to spend that time together. Talk about therapy! How nice, Shea, that you could put the doctor visits aside for awhile and just have a good time doing all the things that girls love to do!

We get impatient and want things to happen according to what seems right to us, and we have to keep reminding ourselves that "as for God, his ways are perfect." And believe me, Shea, it doesn't get any easier to wait as you get older! It's still an exercise of faith for me.

Thanks for the great report, Amy. How good it was to hear from such a good friend of Shea's. I still think that it would be fun to have a "reunion" of all of Shea's friends someday! I feel a real connection to all of you who love and pray for our dear Shea.

I Love you, Shea!

Shea,
Great to know that you are out and about. Slowly getting back to your life, which Im sure is very different now. But, you obviously have blessed so many with just allowing them to see the reality of God's work in your life. May God continue to carry you along your very bumpy road. His strength is made perfect in your weakness.
Still praying for your family,

Hey it's me again finally! Last week I was over on "Shea" and had some time to kill before my appointment which was on Miller, right across from SBC. So, I ran over to the little center where the AMC (?) was and guessed that you probably hung out there. Then I bought a coffee over at Coffee Plantation and I missed your mom. I felt very sad but as I thought of you both--well actually--all of you---I always think of you laughing--how great is that?!--I pictured you laughing with your friends outside the theatre and I pictured your mom laughing over a cup of coffee and your dad laughing at one of Don's jokes. What a joyful memory. Hey--I have this little gift I have been carrying around in my car since January to send to you--but have no fear--today I returned a lamp we purchased Jan 15th--so this little doll is the last thing in the van, beside Kaylan's Christmas present, to get mailed. This week! :)

One more thing--Thursday night I was driving down Bell from McDowell Mtn Ranch at about 9:00 p.m. on my way home from an appointment. I was listening to a worship piano CD playing "Great Is Thy Faithfullness" and in the distance, across the 101 was this beautiful fireworks show. So it was my own little private worship service. My point?--the Holy Spirit will continue to surprise you in the most wonderful ways if God's comfort and peace--and your raw emotions, and total need to depend on Him will allow that to pour like a healing oil over your soul.
Still praying--love Karine

Hey beautiful! I'm just on the computer for a few minutes before dinner and before I have to go to my Fine Arts Concert, where I have to sing with my choir.

It was great seeing you again on Sunday! Its so great! I hope to see you tomorrow, when I come over for lessons with Luke. I love you girl. I'm still praying for you all the time.

Oh, and you know how i wanted to talk to you about the 'school situation', but we ended up just playing phone tag. I got to talk to Luke about it some Saturday night, and he told me what he thought. So maybe soon I can get your imput too.

I love you!
and tell Cali to be ready to see me tomorrow. ;-) I miss my Cali girl.

Hi Shea. Just wanted to let you know that you are now an international music star. I am in Montreal this week. I was playing music from my PC in the office, and your CD was in my play list! You've been exposed to the French-Canadian market now, so Celine Dionne should be worried about the competition!

We continue to pray for you, and I hope this finds you in good spirits!

It was so cool to be able to give you a hug at church last Sunday! Megan and Emily were blown away by God's grace, and how great it was to see you in person!

That will have a lasting impact on their faith and their understanding of our Heavenly Father's love for those that love Him.

Thanks for continuing to reflect the love and the goodness of our Savior. You are truly an instrument that He is using to impact eternity.

...blessings to you and your family!

Hi Shea,
My daughter who is 11 years old and I have been praying for you since day one. It is awesome to see how God is working in your life.

Just the other day my daughter Lindsey asked me about your CD. I checked your blog and saw that you are on Itunes. This is going to be a nice surprise for her; I am having my next door neighbor find the Itunes and hope to get it downloaded for her. Your music that I heard from the blog inspires me and I know that your music will inspire my daughter too.

God bless,
Dorothy & Lindsey Boock
